SRD R370 Payment Dates 2026: Why Your Date Is Different From Everyone Else’s

Every year, SASSA publishes a payment schedule for older persons, people with disabilities, and children’s grants. That schedule lists exact dates for each month, months in advance. Millions of South Africans mark those dates on their calendars.

The SRD R370 grant does not work that way.

If you are waiting for your SRD payment and you cannot find a date anywhere, that is not a mistake. There is no published SRD calendar because the grant does not have one. This article explains why, and how to find your own date.

Why permanent grants have a schedule and SRD does not

The Older Persons Grant, the Disability Grant, and the Children’s Grants are permanent awards. Once SASSA approves you, you are approved for a full year. SASSA can plan the payment run months ahead because it knows exactly how many people it is paying and when.

The SRD R370 grant works differently. SASSA approves each application month by month. Your income and bank account are checked again every month. Whether you qualify in one month does not automatically mean you qualify the next.

Because approval happens monthly, SASSA cannot publish a calendar in advance. It does not know who will qualify next month until it runs those checks. Once approvals are processed, SASSA schedules the payment run. Only then does a date appear on your individual status result.

What “approved” with no date means

Your status can show “approved” before any payment date appears. This confuses a lot of people. It looks like something is stuck.

It is not stuck. Approval and payment are two separate events.

Approval means SASSA has confirmed you qualify for that month. It does not mean the payment has been scheduled yet. The date appears once SASSA finalises the payment run for your batch.

You do not need to reapply when you see “approved” with no date. Reapplying can cause problems with your existing approval. Check back after a few days.

How long does it take after approval?

SASSA does not publish a guaranteed timeframe. In practice, payment follows approval within a few weeks for most people. Some wait longer, depending on when their approval was processed and whether their banking details have been verified.

Three things can hold a payment even after approval.

Banking details not verified. SASSA checks that the account is in your own name. If the verification is still running, payment waits. This happens most often when someone recently changed their banking details.

An identity check still outstanding. SASSA cross-checks with Home Affairs. If there is an issue with your ID record, it pauses the payment until it is resolved.

The cellphone number no longer matches. The SRD record is linked to the number you used when you applied. If that number is no longer active or has been reassigned, verification can fail.

If your status shows “approved” and your payment is delayed beyond a few weeks, check these three things before doing anything else.

Why two people approved the same week can be paid on different days

Two people can apply on the same day, both be approved, and be paid a week apart. This happens for a few reasons.

SASSA processes payments in batches, not one person at a time. The batch you fall into depends on your bank, your province, and the order in which your approval was processed. Different banks receive their payment files on different days.

If you and a family member both receive SRD, your payment dates will often differ even if you applied together. That is expected and normal.

How to see your own payment date

Your date appears on your individual status result once SASSA has scheduled your payment. It will not appear anywhere else, because it is specific to you.

To check it, use MySRD’s SRD status checker. MySRD is an independent information website and is not connected to SASSA or government. It shows you the result SASSA’s system returns for your ID number.

You will need your South African ID number. The date appears once the payment run for your batch has been scheduled. If no date shows yet, it means the run has not been finalised for your batch. Come back in a day or two.

What to do if no date appears after several weeks

If your status shows “approved” and no date appears after three to four weeks, contact SASSA directly.

Do not pay anyone to check your status or find your date. SASSA’s status result is free. No person or third-party website can make your payment arrive faster or release a date early.

A note on predicted dates circulating online

You will find websites and social media posts listing predicted SRD payment dates for the month ahead. These are guesses. SASSA does not publish an SRD calendar, so any monthly calendar you see is not official.

Some predicted dates turn out to be close. Some are wrong. The only date that matters is the one on your own status result once your payment has been scheduled.
